This delicious, gluten-free cake, which I actually served two different ways on Easter, received rave reviews so I decided to post the recipe this morning. Like many times I “decide to post a recipe” I realized that (1) I did not take a picture at all of one version of the cake (whipped cream frosting [...]

I don’t have a lot of time this morning, but I have been wanting to post this recipe for weeks. I’m finding I never have a lot of time, though, so I’m just going to sit down and do it. You need this before Christmas, trust me. I am really on a caramel kick right [...]
Here’s a recipe to keep in your back pocket as we approach the holiday season – really fantastic biscuits. At their best, biscuits are a little bite of heaven. When they aren’t at their best, well, I’d rather skip them. Can you believe the photo above is of gluten-free biscuits? They’re whole grain to boot.
I follow Gluten-Free Girl on Facebook and read how she was organizing a “pie party” today, July 5, to encourage people to find out how easy and rewarding (and tasty!) it is to make homemade pie. I had to join the bandwagon.
I certainly love lentil soup. I’ve refrained from posting too many lentil recipes on here, because I’m afraid it could get out of hand. This one is worth posting, though. It’s simple to make with very few ingredients, but still full of flavor. Maybe you’ll consider it for Easter this year, which is right around [...]
This has been on my to-do list for two years now. With all of the chocoholics in my family I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get the few ingredients together it takes to make my own chocolate. Now you might look at the list of ingredients and be tempted to file it [...]
I’m hopeful that everyone not only survived Christmas, but also had a pleasant and safe holiday. I did. I fulfilled my Eat Local for the Holidays pledge by serving a brunch made almost entirely of local ingredients: Scrambled eggs from a nearby relative with Parker Farms Italian sausage and Good Natured Family Farms Cheddar Cheese; [...]
The tree is up. The presents are bought. An early Christmas Eve dinner at Trezo Mare was delicious and church service at Living Water Christian Church has set the mood for the rest of the weekend. I’m going to keep this short and sweet so I can relax with the family, watch a movie and [...]
Here it is…my Christmas cookie repertoire. The list is small, but mighty. Only four of mine and my family’s all-time favorites. This quartet has it all, though. A little chocolate, a little ginger, a little butter and even a fluffy little marshmallow.
I continue to be shocked and amazed at how many really good local wines we have in and around Kansas City. The latest one I’ve tried might be my new fave. I know, I have had lots of “faves”, so I might be losing credibility. Nevertheless, you should still give this one a try — [...]
