At some point in my journey of becoming a self-proclaimed locavore, vacations have become, well, different. I’m always up for traveling, but I’ve found that eating on the road can damn near ruin a vacation. There seems to be a very fine and almost invisible line between wanting to experience the local cuisine and all [...]

I have absolutely no recipes to share with you this week. Sorry. My husband was out of town for 7 seven days and I cooked one pot of soup the entire week. We ate leftovers. And omelets and salads. I like to tease him that every time he goes out of town I lose five [...]

Last evening I attended Slow Food KC’s Harvest in the Vineyard event at Somerset Ridge Vineyard & Winery. Man, anyone who thinks Kansas City is not an exciting place to be right now is sorely mistaken. There are so many things going on with the local food movement that inspiration lies on every corner.

If you were to ask me at the beginning of this season, “What’s the BEST farmer’s market in KC?”, I would have said City Market. It’s the biggest, of course. Now that I have been to more markets around the city, though, I don’t think my answer would be the same. Let me put it [...]
