Warning: Shameless, shameless, shameless self-promotion is about to ensue. A few months ago my friend Sharmin Meadows, who writes a blog called What You’re Missing KC!, recorded a short video with me at the kitchen downtown I was teaching cooking classes out of at the time. Since the film was shot that building has been [...]

Doesn’t that look good?? Just moments before I saw Heidi’s post on 101cookbooks.com for Golden Lentil Potstickers, I had every intention of working like a mad women on my impossibly long “to-do” list. Suddenly my “to-do” list got re-prioritized (fresh pasta was on that list somewhere, wasn’t it??).

I shared this photo on Facebook the other day and then proceeded to stare at the picture for some time while drooled over the lemon cream (actually I’m doing it again as I am trying to type this!). This is a cake I made in a class a few weeks ago – Gluten-Free Lemon Cake [...]

We had our final cooking class with the kids from Frank Rushton yesterday. It’s been so much fun making a Thanksgiving feast with them the past few weeks. We did this last week in a cooking class with the IMX=Pilates group [...]

This month’s class at IMX=Pilates in Parkville was simply “Asian”. That was the request. I never know what that really means to people. It’s like saying something is “healthy”. Everyone has their own idea of what is “healthy” just like everyone has their own idea of what Asian cuisine is.

I am sure I could have came up with a more clever title than “Mexican Fiesta”, as it does not at all begin to describe the food Tonya and I made last night for our monthly class with the IMX=Pilates group. We’re not talking about the fat-laden, Americanized version of Mexican cuisine that is covered [...]

At the risk of never being invited to another social event that includes food again, I am going to confess that I am a bit particular about what I eat. People who know me well (or not so well) know this about me. It seems like any discussion around the food being served is either [...]
